Epilator virgin

Being 5 months pregnant I couldn't wait to receive my Braun silk-epil as anything that means shaving less is a bonus when pregnant. Obviously before using the product I needed to know if it was safe when pregnant and it totally was. As an epilator virgin I got a big shock when I first used it on my legs, ouch did it hurt lol. After a few minutes though the pain was bearable and I was left with silky smooth legs which fingers crossed won't need doing again for around 4 weeks. It's a great little product which I would totally recommend to all my girl friends

Still too painful...

So, I have tried epilators in the past, years ago, and found them to just not he worth the pain. I was looking forward to trying a more 'modern' version with the Braun Silk-epil to see if it could change my mind about this torturous form of hair removal. I'm generally too lazy to do anything other than shave due to its convenience, so had to 'prep' for using the silk-epil by growing some good old leg hair (thankfully it's not the weather to be wearing skirts!!)I was glad to see that the silk-epil can pick up even the shortest of hairs so it didn't take too long for my legs to be ready for some hair removal!Side note - the product comes in a great setup, a good range of extra adaptors and in a lovely sparkly white colour, and also with a small bag to keep it all in. The silk-epil can be used wet or dry so I decided to try both, one for each leg!Dry - OUCH...if anyone has had tattoo removal, this is a similar kind of pain! A burning needle sensation. I'm not going to lie, it took me around 3 hours to do one leg due to needed to stop for 10 minutes to rub the stinging areas!l and reprepare myself! To be fair, it did get 80% of the hairs out, leaving only slight redness. Wet - OUCH AGAIN...but slightly less. The warm water of a bath seemed to help slightly with the pain, but it certainly wasn't a relaxing glass of wine and bubbles kind of bath. I wanted to give enough time following using the silk-epil so I could comment on regrowth. Firstly I had two ingrown hairs, this isn't anything to unusual as I always tend to get these from waxing. I would advise a good exfoliate before epilating in future. Regrowth has been similar to what you expect from waxing and other similar methods. Definitely keeps legs hair free for around 2 weeks, and much longer than shaving would. Now apparently epilating gets easier and less painful as time goes on. Therefore I am going to give it a couple more tries as my hair grows back as I would love a longer term hair removal solution. I can't say i was brace enough to epilate bikini line but I tried the little shaver that came with the set and found it to be great and gets close to skin. This has now been stolen by my husband who loves using it for maintaining his beard!! so it must be good. I don't think epilating will ever be painfree but this silk-epil is an improvement on previous epilators and does do what it says on the box.

Moustache free

I've just used the Braun silk epil 7 with the facial hair attachment which makes the surface area smaller so easier to control. I followed the instructions to keep skin taught. I admit I practiced on the back of my hand first because I was a little nervous. I then braved it and used it on the slow speed to epilate the sparse but obvious hairs I have above my top lip. It does pinch a little but I persisted and the epilator has removed every hair including the fine ones. I'm delighted as even though I'm not very hairy, face make up always accentuates them. I would recommend practising first and then just do it !!

Pleasantly surprised

First thing I need to say is that when I told my friends that I had been accepted to try and review the silk-epil they all wished my luck and one shuddered at the thought of using an epilator. Having never used one myself I was nervous but could not pass up this amazing opportunity and was excited to try. I have to say that although it was not completely pain free (how can pulling hair out ever be though!?) it honestly was not that painful. The first glide across my leg did startle me somewhat but it was more like pins and needles that immediately went away than any kind of pain. How much is this worth it though! Instead of having to shave daily this lasts for weeks and more importantly did not leave my legs dry or bumpy afterwards. The results were fantastic, silky smooth legs and I won't have to do this every day ever again. Only criticism up to now would be that it would be so much better if you had a bag to keep all the attachments and parts in to keep everything together and prevent losing bits over time. Will report back once I have tried the other attachments and pieces but so far it's amazing.

Great but better instructions needed

I absolutely love this epilator & love that it comes with all the different attachments but although the instructions give a picture of the attachments it doesn't tell you what they are all for. Some are fairly obvious but some face baffled me & im going to have to google to see if I can get more info.I think it's fab that one of the heads changes it into a razor too.I know some people find epilating painful but my pain threshold is quite high so don't mind the odd sting, I did notice that this one doesn't sting as much as some others I've tried. The hairs on my legs were fairly short but it was still really effective at removing them all & my legs stayed nice & smooth for over a week. The little trimming tool is fab too.So overall I love the product but would prefer better instructions regarding the attachments. I will definitely continue to use this on a a regular basis.

Converted me completely!

I was a combination of excited and terrified before trying the Braun Silk-Epil for the first time. I had tried an epilator a few years ago and, having been through childbirth since, would honestly have rather gone through childbirth again than epilated one more time! However, the fact that you could use this in the bath did sway me to decide to try it out. I received the epilator and, bath run (and having had a glass of wine to calm my nerves), I took the plunge, literally.I took the advice in the booklet and made sure I stretched my skin very tightly which did make a difference. I only did my legs the first go as I wasn't brave enough to try any other areas yet! All ready to feel excrutiating pain, I was pleasantly surprised (shocked even), when all I felt was a tight scraping sensation which was more unpleasant than painful. I did my whole leg in just a few minutes and I was stunned how painless it was. The areas I found a bit uncomfortable (maybe bordering on painful) were my ankles and my knees but I made sure to soak my legs under the water for a few minutes before starting, and I do think stretching the skin with my free hand was key.Overall I am really impressed with this epliator and I feel confident that I won't have to shave again! My legs were a bit red afterwards but I put on some gentle cream which soothed them. I am so pleased with this product and I can't wait to tell my friends about it!

Painless yet effective hair removal?

I've been struggling over winter to pluck up (pun intended) the motivation to shave my legs every day. I was blessed/cursed (delete as appropriate) with fair hair. I therefore have to spend ages shaving my legs every day thanks to the sun showing up every single hair like a small beacon of light. I've thought about getting my legs waxed professionally, however it costs money & time. Like most things in life.I've tried epilation in the past but drew the same conclusion every time. Too painful. Then the Braun Silk-Epil 7-561 came in to my life like a knight in a shining plastic safety guard. The main concern I had when looking in to using an epilator again was the pain. What would I do if I couldn't bear to use it? That's when the '8 extras' that come with then epilator saved the day for me! It includes a bikini trimmer (in case you can't stand to epilate in such a delicate area), several attachments to focus the epilator on a particular area i.e your face, even an electric shaving attachment! Perfect. If it hurts too much then you can just switch to the electric shaving attachment (which is far more effective than any other razor that I own so is worth it alone). So, did it actually hurt? I must admit I was pretty terrified when I turned it on for the first time. I read the instructions several hundred times before I dared place the epilator on my leg. What if I do it wrong? What if I rip my skin off instead of my leg hair? Finally I braved it. My immediate reaction was 'is that it?'. Hardly any pain at all. Imagine pins and needles - with the very occasional teeny tiny pinch as a stubborn hair is plucked out. Completely bearable (as were my legs afterwards). The epilator is pretty on the eye (with little flecks of delicate glitter incorporated in to the design), the handle is super gripable even when your hands are soapy and wet (yes you can use this epilator wet or dry), and the light is super useful for us fair-haired girls. I moved on to trying it out on the fair hairs that are dotted around my face. I added the face attachment and off I went. Again, the pain is no worse than a quick plucking, yet it's over in half the time. Perfect. The best thing about it is that the more your body gets used to using it, the less it'll hurt. The requirement to shave my legs every day has been completely eradicated, but should I ever feel the need to then I can just switch to the electric shaving attachment without an issue. It even comes with a handy little carry bag to keep everything in, so I won't lose any of the attachments (a great addition for someone as clumsy as me).Overall, one of the best epilators I've used!

Love the braun silk-epil

Normally electric razors leave my skin in a really bad condition however this one is so gentle on my skin!Dead easy to use and the handy bikini trimmer is a fab addition.Instruction booklet goes into more detail than any product I've ordered before which is fab, although could do with some more guidance on what each head does but I figured it out.The only downside for me is that the plug to charge it is a shaver plug, which I don't have but not the end of the world. Because of the results I will buy an adapter! Love it!!!No way I'll stop using this now!

Braun Silk-epil 7

I have used other epilators in the past, however this by far is the most comfortable one to use.Amazing product, no pinching of the skin. It's got a body contouring head so it glides along the shape of your body.Well designed heads with different options for face and sensitive areas. It comes with a variety of heads, my most used ones are the massaging head, the shaving/trimming head and the sensitive skin head- all easy to change out. The massage rollers defiantly makes it less painful it give your skin an extra comfortHaving the ability to use it in the shower is great and extremely time saving. It has a Smart-light feature which enables you to see those tiny hairs easily without any hitch. It has two-speed setting, so you can adjust the speed just the way you want. Not as fast as shaving however it still is a lot faster and cheaper then waxing. There is still some pain experienced when first using the epilator, especially in more sensitive areas on the body. However over time you can barely feel it at all. The benefit with that is the results are a lot more long lasting and withstand easily for four weeks that is almost like epilating once a month.Even though you can only use it once charged, it does not take long at all to fully charge. No longer then an hour. This model comes also with a little bikini trimmer. I did not thought I would use it at all but the other day I was in a rush but needed to do my armpits and this little gadget was the only think I had to hand. So I used it to do my armpits and I have to say I was impressed no pain really really quick not much different than shaving. I will use it more often Its perfect for a quick "shave". I would certainly reccomend this product to anyone!!
