    FAQ All-in-one trimmer

Your Braun styler or trimmer should continue to offer optimal performance for years. However, the reality is that you may see a drop in performance from time to time. There are several reasons why this may be. To kick off, the cutting parts may be dirty or blocked which means they simply won't cut as effectively as they used to. This tends to lead to sluggish performance which typically worsens if not dealt with. Helpfully, in such cases, all you need to do is clean and oil the appropriate parts as laid out in your device's user manual. Just navigate to the bottom of the page to access the relevant user manual. At Braun, we recommend you follow all the cleaning and care instructions in your manual to maintain optimal performance over the lifespan of all our styler and trimmer models.

Styling and trimming your hair to get the look you want should never be a painful experience. That being said, there are a couple of reasons why a styler or trimmer may pull your hair, potentially causing discomfort. Firstly, the device may be dirty. If so, the build-up of grime will mean that the cutting parts can't do their job properly. If so, check your user manual to find out how to clean and oil the device properly to resolve the issue. In rare cases, dirty stylers and trimmers may be blocked completely but, more often than not, they don't get into this state. If so, they're more likely to pull at hair than stop working completely.

Secondly, the battery of your styler or trimmer may be running low. It is important to note that when a battery is almost dead, the device is likely to run slower with less power to operate effectively, impairing its cutting performance. If so, all you need to do is recharge the device and its you'll be able to trim once more without tugging.

Firstly, failing to charge up properly could be because the charger cable isn't plugged in properly, something that's easy to check. Only use the original charger cable, too. If you make use of a different charger cable from the one supplied with your styler or trimmer, then it can result in a longer charging time. In some cases, you may even experience damage or malfunctions by failing to use an original charging accessory. Handily, our range of accessories means you should be able to track down Braun originals. Alternatively, take a look at our spare product parts for your device. If a new charger makes no difference, consider finding a local service centre to have the problem assessed professionally.

We know that noisy stylers and trimmers might still work fine but they can be annoying. The good news is that dealing with excessively noisy devices usually boils down to the way the cutting parts or accessories are aligned. Combs and foil cutting heads should be removed – when the device is switched off – and refitted according to the instructions in your user manual. In addition, we recommend cleaning and oiling the moving parts of your device. You can find out how to do this in the product's user manual, too.

We tend to find that it is something that is trapped inside a styler or trimmer that is the cause of an unwanted odour. To get rid of it, oil the cutting part of the device with light machine oil, especially if you've just cleaned under running water. When cleaning with water, switch off your styler or trimmer and rinse the head and the trimmer under warm running water until any hair that has been lodged in the blades has been removed. Allow your device to dry out thoroughly before brushing away any remaining hairs with your supplied brush. With the device switched off, give yourself access to the cutting system by pressing your thumb against its cover from the front side. The top section will come away at an approximate 45° angle allowing you to brush away any dried skin or hair that might've become trapped, potentially causing a smell.

At Braun, we recommend that you first try our troubleshooting tips if your device has been subject to accidental damage. If that doesn't solve the problem, then seek further assistance by tracking down a local service centre.
