I was scared of using it to start off as I thought it was going to hurt. It didn't hurt ONE bit! It felt smooth against my skin and removed the hair well. I was very happy with how it worked! I like how it comes with a little brush to brush off the hair around the top part.
Yes, I recommend this product !
The SILK-ÉPIL 5 was adjustment to my regular grooming routine. The hair removal was a nice alternative to my regular waxing and chemical hair removal routine. In my own view, the corded epilator made it easy to epilate my hair in one go without having to recharge. Another plus was the fact that I could clean it under regular water, following the instructions in the booklet -this was is to read by the way. Another wonderful feature was the guiding light to make sure all the little hairs gone for my OCD complexities. I didn't have a need to use the attachment for facial hair, but I am yet to try to meeting my eyebrows as the attachment was small enough to do so. Again I see the light coming in handy here just to get rid of those pesky hairs. All in all I see this as a product that can use for the next two years. The only problem I can see for it, is perhaps the cord been a bit longer for easy manuvering. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
So as a confirmed wuss and epilator virgin, I was not massively looking forward to this, but hate shaving my legs, only just stopped crying from the first and last time I waxed and cannot abide the smell of creams.....I at first thought it was rechargeable, so after the initial confusion, I read the instructions, which were pretty straight forward, I also familiarised myself with the array of attachments and accessories that come with the epilator. Loads of different attachments for different body areas, or gentle epilating.Once I had cooled the gel pack in the freezer, I decided to give the epilator a try, I had not shaved my legs for 10 days, so they were quite stubbly, I clicked the epilator head into place along with the attachment for gentle depilating..and off I went...I won't lie, it hurt a little bit, but this is where the magic of the cooling glove came into it's own, the gel pack is removed from the freezer and inserted into the silver glove, I then applied to my skin for approx 20/30 seconds before depilating, it made it totally pain free, I was amazed, and managed to epilate both legs quite happily. The results for a first time user were pretty good, only a couple of small areas I had to go over again, but this would be down to my poor technique rather than a problem with the device. My legs are smooth and I suffered no irritation or stinging at all, just a few red dots, which faded within a minute or so..which also pleasantly surprised me.I would definitely recommend this epilator, my only negative is that it is not cordless, so I had to sit on the floor near a plug socket to use it. I have used an epilator before but I gave up a year or so ago as I found the one I was using was so time consuming and didn't do a great job, so I couldn't wait to try the Silk-Epil. It was nicely packaged and as we have a shaver socket in the bathroom, it was no problem to charge up. The Olay wipes were a nice touch as they cool down your legs before you start.Well firstly I loved the light. It makes it so easy to see what you are doing and also makes it obvious if you need to go over a section again. Great idea guys. The pivoting head is also really good. I don't need to go into contortions to reach the back of my legs, which is quite important as I nearly fell off my bathroom stool using my last epilator! The speed settings are good and make you feel in control of things. It is slower than shaving but then again you stay hair free and smooth much longer so I think it is worth the extra time. I don't find it particularly painful but of course it is more painful than shaving. I shall be interested to see how long my legs feels smooth for. I must admit I have not tried my underarms yet but I may brace myself and have a go! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Must admit I'm brand new to epilating and liked the look of the ice pack that promised a numbing sensation. I read various review of the Silk-Epil 5 online and was impressed with what people had to say about it. So with much excitement and a touch (ok maybe more) of nervousness I sat down to try the epilator. My first disappointment was with the plug, it has a two prong shaving plug with needs an adaptor to fit a normal plug. Yes they are cheap and easy to get hold of but that's not much consolation when you've sat down in your pants ready to epilate your legs. Thankfully I was able to find one in the house and continue. The instructions aren't the best, they seem scattered over the pages and in no obvious order. The numbing pad does make a difference but not for long. I found it soon 'defrosted' and made no difference. I don't know if that is because it's summer or a design fault but it was slightly disappointing. However I found if I used it for the first 'patch' it took the shock away and I was able to continue with the rest of my leg without it.The instructions mentioned using the roller top if you were new so I tried that on the gentler setting. Vibrations were loud but that didn't bother me - just turned the TV up! However I soon turned it up to the other setting as I found it kept missing patches. Maybe I'm too fast running it up my leg (after countless years of shaving) because I kept having to go back and redo areas. The light is a great touch and helps you see the smaller hairs. The sensation itself is similar to getting a tattoo, a sharp pulling twinge that you soon get used to. And the instructions that say do it on recently shaved hairs are right - it hurts tons more on week old or longer stubble. The blotches that appear on the skin after the first use soon go away and only faintly appeared second time. Would recommend doing it on an evening so skin can calm over night.Despite the good points and running it over my legs several times I still find patches a day or two later and the claim it'll pick up a hair the same size as a grain of sand seems unrealised. It's definitely got me into epilators, thought it'll be a while before I brave underarm and bikini, and I'll be getting another when this one gives out. Can't honestly say I'll get this definite model again though, it has so much going for it (such as been wonderfully light, easy to hold, been a wired product which I prefer as it means it won't cut out halfway through and coming with plenty of accessories and a handy drawstring bag, but I found it doesn't pick up all that well. Maybe that's my method and there's a knack I need to learn but for now it's disappointing that it takes at least half an hour per leg then I end up fixing patches the next day. This was my first time using an epilator but it won't be my last. The Braun Silk-Epil 5 is perfect for a first time user. There are plenty of attachments to help ease the pain - I particularly like the massaging rollers. If it gets uncomfortable there is a special soothing pack which you keep in the freezer. This was included in the box.Hair removal is good and my legs felt smooth afterwards. This improved on the second use (probably as my skin reacted less). I haven't tried it anywhere apart from my legs but the epilator is suitable for many areas. (Each with it's own attachment). The instructions were in depth and helped me out as a first time user. The epilator itself is a nice design and is compact for easy storage. One (very) slight quibble is that the on/off button isn't overly easy to grip. The epilator plugs into a shaving socket which is fine for me but perhaps some people would prefer a battery powered one.Overall a very good product which I will continue to use and would recommend. This would be a brilliant epilator if it worked all the time. There's something definitely not quite right with the one I have as it suddenly cuts out & it take a lot of wire wiggling & switching on & off to get it to restart. ( tried it in all sorts of sockets, so know it's not me!!) Braun support have been good at getting it to their service department, but they can't find a fault at present, so are sending out a new cable - fingers crossed that cures the issue as when it works, it's brilliant!
Absolutely amazing. I never thought i would find anything to remove hair apart from a razor and cremes. Initially i got it out and was all prepared to use it then discovered i needed an adaptor, no mention of this, so it went back in the box until i went and bought one. So then i was back in action. All prepared to use it. First time was a bit trial and error, how to hold it, which direction to go in and how fast. However the instructions were great and really told me everything i needed to know. After one go i have had the faith to use it everywhere even my face. So overall simpl and easy to use just let us knowwe need an adaptor. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
well i cannot fault this product i'm always worried when i use a new one but this one was fantastic i opened it all up read all the instructions etc pretty straight forward, couldn't wait for my cool pack to be cold ready for my first use, there was a small amount of pain with the first stroke but after that it was pain free quick easy and i left it for maybe 4-5 days before i noticed any stubble of any kind, without a doubt this has to be the best epilator ive used. This kit is aimed at epilation newbies and did not disappoint. In order to truly put this epilator through its paces I let my leg hairs grow enough that I did not totally resemble a sasquatch, but enough that I could judge how well it dealt with hairs of different lengths.I am a regular epilator and have had several models over the years all of which have served me well. The head is quite narrow compared to my normal epilator which meant I had to go up and down a lot my leg more than normal to get rid of the hairs, but for facial use its narrow head is an advantage. On the plus side the Braun Silk Epil 5780 was quick, efficient and surprisingly painless. The special massaging rollers on one of the heads do seem to reduce the pain significantly and for those who arre really worried about it hurting the Braun Silk Epil comes with a special ice pack you pop in the freezer and then use in a cooling glove supplied as part of the kit to help ease the pain. There are a variety of caps in the kit that cover the epilator head and are there to help out with delicate areas. there is also a shaver head included so it really is a total body kit. Its quick and pretty efficient at what it does. The integral light is a useful addition and makes it easy to see the lurking hairs.. Changing heads and cleaning the epilator are a doddle. On the minus side it is corded, which is a bit of a pain when going round the back of your legs but then I am used to cordless. I also found the on off switch not particularly easy to use, Its a bit fiddly. However, that said,my overall opinion is that the Braun Silk Epil 5780 is a good basic kit and something very well suited to an epilation newbie.
