When I told people I would be trying out an epilator most gave me the sort of concerned look you would give people who said they were going to start doing their own dentistry at home. There was lots of muttering about how painful it was and stories of people who had purchased one, used it once and then banished it to the back of the cupboard so as never to be rememinded of the pain they experienced. As such it was with some trepidation that I set up the Braun Silk Epil 5 for the first time.I am relieved to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Yes, there is some discomfort - it's not like the hair is being licked off by kittens - but Braun have done a lot with the Silk Epil 5 to minimise it. Firstly there is the ice glove which you can use before epilation. Being a cautious newby to epilation I used this the first time I epilated but haven't botheredsince. Yes it did numb the area a bit but on subsequent uses I didn't really feel I needed it. Plus it was a faff having to stop epilating to numb an area - and to remember to pick it up from the freezer in the kitchen in the first place! The thing that made the biggest difference for me was the 2 speed settings. This meant you could start off with a gentler speed of epilation before moving up to the faster setting, giving you time to get used to the feeling of epilation. The device also has massaging rollers and sits extremely close to the skin, which I suspect helps minimise any discomfort.I was very impressed with the amount of hair removed - even at first use, especially as the same people who told me I would be blacked out in pain also told me you had to go over the same area again and again. This certainty isn't the case with the Silk Epil 5. Until I used the epilator I didn't understand why it had a light on it - I was never going to epilate in the dark! The light helps you spot small hairs you might have missed, which is great because I quickly became obsessed with having lovely smooth legs. There are some downsides to the Silk Epil 5. You need to buy a razor adaptor for the plug - a small issue but frustrating when you're itching to try it out. The plug cable is also prone to falling out, which can be annoying. You can also only use the Silk Epil 5 when it's plugged in - you can't charge it and use it without the plug connection, which is a shame. All in all though I am very impressed with the Silk Epil 5. It's particularly handy for me as I have a small baby, so I can use the epilator when she's sleeping. This means I'm not having to spend ages in the shower using a razor - desperately hoping baby doesn't start crying - every time I want to wear summer clothes or go swimming. For anyone undecided about using an epilator I would say don't be put off by the horror stories. It's certainly not anymore uncomfortable than waxing. In fact I found it better than waxing as the sensation was constant, so you got used to it more quickly. Ultimately the Braun Silk Epil 5 works - it gives you convenient hair removal, that lasts with minimal discomfort and you can't ask much more than that! I admit when I first signed up to do this review I was a little nervous. Once the product arrived I was excited but had to 'pluck' up the courage to try it.Initial thoughts, nice packaging, lovely looking product. Bit disappointed in the two pin plug but it's not too big an issue just buy a shaver adapter.Ice pack is a great idea, cooling the area before running the epilator up your leg, however I think I would prefer to use it afterwards to take some of the 'heat' out my legs. Having shaved my legs recently I wasn't too sure the epilator would get all the little hairs, but I needn't have been worried. It leaves your legs looking like freshly plucked chicken at first, but if you do them at night, as recommended, they do look 'normal' by morning. One week on from the epilation and my legs are still fairly smooth. Forget expensive waxing, Braun Silk-Epil 5 is the future! Will I recommend this product to friends and family? Already have! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I was a bit sceptical about trying this product - I have been shaving for years, and although I wanted hair free legs for longer than I get with shaving, Im also not good with pain! The Epil-5 comes with a cooling gel pad which you put in the freezer prior to use, and two different head adapters, including one for the face.I left the cooling pad in the freezer for a few hours before I used it for the first time, holding it against the area I wished to use the Epil-5 on for a minute or so.The head on the Epil-5 spins quite fast and can look a bit daunting, but was a way of pulling the hairs out quickly, therefore making it super speedy.I was really impressed with the number of hairs I could remove with each go, you have to make sure the skin is pulled taut and you hold the Epil-5 firmly on the skin, otherwise the results can be patchy.I haven't tried it on my face or underarms yet, but am happy with the results on both of my legs, and am hoping that over time my hairs will be finer.I would thoroughly recommend this product, the short burst of pain is worth it for the overall result [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I absolutely love this!! I've only used an epilator once before a long time ago and I remember it really hurt! The silk epil 5 was really easy to use. It seemed to glide over my skin and even though the hairs weren't that long it got them all out. It lasted about a week before they started to grow back and even then it was only a few hairs that came back. Will be using this all the time from now on! The only downside was that the power lead that fits into the bottom of the epilator was very loose and actually came out a couple of times whilst I was using it. I don't know it's it's just a one off or if all of them are like this but it didn't put me off using it. It came with a gel pack that you put in the freezer which was great to cool the skin afterwards. Overall a fantastic product and I'll be recommending it to all my friends!! I was offered to try the epilator and when It arrived I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about using it for the first time as I had never epilated before and was under the impression it can be very painful and I hate painThe instructions are clear and very easy to follow the most important instruction to follow us to freeze the cooling pack first don't do what I did and try it for the first time without the cooling pack as it's very uncomfortable withoutOnce I froze the cooling pack and left it on the skin area ready to epilate for the required time it was much less uncomfortable and the more I used it the more I got used to itThe light on it is a great idea as it helps you see what you are doing and makes stray hairs more visableDays after epilating legs still feel soft and hair free several days laterIn my opinion once used to it it's much better then shaving although bit more time consuming in the beginning but once you have done your full legs it's just a case of touching up areas for little stray hairsThe only down side I could find is that if you don't have a uk adaptor you can't use it straight away as it's supplied with a 2 pin so had to go and buy one before I could try it [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Never used an epilator before Was very apprehensive. On asking friends they had not tried one either but had been told it is very painful which made me even more anxious. .Well tried it and must say. Was not as bad as I thought the cooling gel is amazeballs. My legs are very smooth and have used a few times now; my hairs start to grow back after about 3 weeks but can definitely notice also that my hair is a lot finer. One thing to note though is that since been using this product. I have had a few ingrown hairs so regular exfoliation and moisturising is a must. All round great little gadget. I have recommended the ptouct to my friends and family. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Well, this is the first time I've ever used an epilator and what can I say it does what it says. It looks very cute in the box and I was excited to use. It's very quick to get some charge however you need a European plug as this doesn't come with a British 3pin plug. I didn't find the instructions very helpful so kind of went with what I thought. I was so excited to use it, I did so with out using the cooling glove,,,,,, ouch!! So I put the gel pack in the freezer and after few hours put it into the glove, and used that first which deffo helped with the pain. At first I flinched as I wasn't sure what to expect but then I got the hang of it and as long as I used the glove I could manage the pain. The epil itself is very light and easy to manoeuvre. After I was finished my legs were all red and blotchy so I wouldn't advise to use it then have your legs straight on show. The next morning my legs were all smooth and no redness in sight. I'm very glad I got the opportunity to try this as I was always to afraid to buy one in the shops incase it hurt to much and it would have been wasted. I can now safe I've been turned, and I'll now use the epil instead of razors.#GotItForFree [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This is the first time ive used a epilator I was a bit worried at first after other reviews I had read and seen but after the first 5 minutes of pain it was fine took a bit of getting use to the results was fantastic I used it 5 days ago and my legs are still really smooth the only down fall with the product is the plug as its only two prongs would highly recommend getting one if you get feed up of shaving your legs [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
i've always been very apprehensive of using an epilator, (I'm a bit of a wuss on the pain factor) but i needed a quicker way than the usual shave and wanted it to last a lot longer too so i thought id give this product a go. Its fantastic there are different heads that you can change for different areas and it was very quick easy to set up and use, there are different speed settings so you can change it to suit you.looks great not to heavy to hold.the only thing i would say is make sure you have a two pin adapter for it to work.other than that an absolutely fantastic product highly recommended.
